This grand neo-classical building operates as a major arts and cultural center. Somerset House hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including open-air concerts and movie showings, family workshops, and contemporary art and design exhibitions. During the summer months 55 fountains dance in the courtyard, and in the winter there is a large ice rink. Free, guided tours are available on certain days, so check online beforehand. If your visit coincides with a tour, turn up early, as they are very popular. There are several cafes and restaurants to choose from. Visit Tom’s Terrace for views across to the River Thames. At the Tube stop, Temple, you'll find Somerset House, which is a gorgeous neoclassical building overlooking the Thames. The most interesting thing for me is to enjoy the spacious inner courtyard that in winter hosts a skating rink and in summer is animated by the fountains. We were there with the kids on a hot London day and they had a great time! Admission is free, if there are exhibitions those are instead for a fee.
The most wonderful ice-skating ever! Good music! Good ambience! The bar served nice drinks, beers and a snack! We visited too the Charlie Brown exposition! Marvelous! The history, the cartoons! On the store we just wanted to buy everything!
Amazing place in a prime location easily accessible with good music friendly staff and excellent service. Plenty to explore from the beautiful ice skating to interesting art exhibition just to mention a few gems. Nice drinks, beers and snacks lots of fun good experience will definitely recommend to friends.
