Interesting history of Coram’s efforts to take care of babies which may otherwise have perished in mid 1700’s. Ground floor exhibition is the only part of the museum that directly details this. Other ... more »
This is one of the best of the smaller museums in London. It tells the story of the Foundling Hospital, and the foundlings who were brought up in the Hospital. The Hospital also was the first art gallery in London and has a good collection of art. They also host modern art exhibits and usually have small temporary exhibitions that are fascinating. A visit here can easily be combined with the nearby excellent Dickens Museum in Doughty Street which has a nice cafe. Highly recommended. Good for families as well...
This is a thought-provoking museum. It tells many heartbreaking stories that help you to cherish what you have now. But it also has a lot of great and positive collections to let people know about its history and the past of London. This museum need some entry fees, but it is really worth to visit!
