Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum is the largest tennis museum in the world, hosting exhibits and artifacts dating from 1555 to today. Trace the game’s evolution from a garden party pastime to a multimillion-dollar professional sport played all over the world. Admire treasures from the first Championship in 1877 to the most recent, including equipment, clothing, trophies, and mementos belonging to the greatest players to set foot on Centre Court. Meet the "ghost" of the legend John McEnroe (created with the latest in projection and filming technology) in the very changing room he once used. Listen to him reminisce about the dressing room, his legendary opponents, and how he would prepare himself for matches. Take in the atmosphere of Centre Court from the viewing platform CentreCourt360, and take a guided tour behind the scenes of the All England Lawn Tennis Club. Audio guides are also available. If driving to the museum, allow yourself plenty of time to get there in London’s notorious traffic. Unfortunately, only a short visit remained, because the games were already running. For those who don't have the opportunity to come to London in July, visiting the museum and taking a tour of the complex is a perfect alternative.
Excellent visit. Well worth it and would recommend. Your ticket includes the museum and a guided tour, and the guides are interesting, informative and enjoyable to listen to. You get to go to places you would not normally go to if you were at Wimbledon for a tournament, though, sadly, not the dressing rooms which would have been fun, or the walk which players make out on to Centre Court!
If you're into tennis then this place is amazing. The tour let's you see things you would never experience as a normal visitor so its well worth doing it to get an insight into what goes on behind the scenes of the best two weeks of the summer! Even if you're not really a tennis fan, it's a great few hours seeing how such a famous event gets put on so well every year.
