Full of archaeological and anthropological scholarly achievements, Pitt Rivers Museum is also easy on the eyes. When you enter the main court on the bottom floor, row after row of glass cases will greet you. These are filled with artifacts collected from every corner of the world by scientists at the University of Oxford. Look up and you may see some of the artifacts hanging above your head from the sculpted steel support beams. The second floor was renovated in 2009 and reopened as the Clore Duffield Education Center. This is a family-friendly center that gives visitors of all ages a chance to touch exhibits and learn the ins and outs of archaeology. • This was my first visit to Oxford and I was really looking forward to visiting some of the museums. The problem was that I went to this one first, and was so captivated that I didn't have much time to visit the more famous museums. This place is incredible. The variety of exhibits was enormous, and they were collated in unusual ways which was fascinating. I especially enjoyed the textile exhibits as that is my bag, but there was so much else to look at, it was definitely a place to linger and to learn. Definitely worth returning to.
  • They've got loads of neat stuff here. It's free as well. You can spend hours here an never see everything. Over all it is worth a visit if you're in town.
