Experience 800 years of naval history at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, which is surrounded by working docks and several historic buildings. At this location there’s plenty to keep everyone in the family entertained, with regular special events, educational activities, talks, and exhibits. Go aboard historic HMS Victory, HMS Warrior, and HMS M33. You can also visit the raised wreck of a sailing ship from the time of the Tudors, accessible from the Mary Rose Museum building. Stop by the site’s informative Action Stations center, containing interactive demonstrations of various aspects of naval science. With the number of simultaneous visitors to each exhibit limited, it’s best to book your tickets online to skip long lines and avoid disappointment. For travelers who use our custom trip planner, Portsmouth holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

There are so many cool things to check out within the dockyards. The Mary Rose and Royal Navy museums were both awesome and informative. The HMS Victory was a great ship to tour. I wish that I got to go aboard the HMS Warrior. I will definitely see it if I am in the area. This is a great place to bring kids. It also provides a view of any modern ships that happen to be in the dockyards.

The National Museum of the Royal Navy, which is part of the Historic Dockyard, is one of the most fascinating and extensive historical places I've visited. Everything is well laid out, the artifacts and displays are brilliant, and the amount of boots-on-the-ground history is incredible. Of course, H.M.S. Victory, and H.M.S. Warrior are highlights and a terrific experience. Plan on spending at least two days in order to see and explore everything. I could have stayed longer. Hop on over to the Submarine Museum with a free water taxi included in your ticket....which itself is valid for a year.
