Horseshoe Bend is a natural wonder famous for its striking contrast of water against red rocks. Just as its name suggests, the bend is a horseshoe-shaped curve cut into the rocks by the Colorado River, located just 6 km (4 mi) southwest from the town of Page. You can take a raft or helicopter tour or hike to the bend over a fairly short but very steep and rugged trail, often made more difficult by excessive heat. If you do choose to walk across this challenging terrain, be sure to wear rubber-soled shoes, light clothing, sunglasses, and a hat. To avoid dehydration, drink lots of water and make frequent stops as you hike to the scenic overlook above the meandering river. • This is one of my new favorite places in Arizona. I had just visited the Grand Canyon (which is also spectacular) and I would have to say that Horseshoe Bend was more impressive to me. This is simply because Horseshoe Bend has a main vocal point that you are able to get closer too that just makes the experience that much better. Also when I got there, I experienced a parallax effect. It was really cool. Definitely recommend!
  • One of the most beautiful and scenic spots to visit in Arizona. I definitely appreciated the majestic views of this spot even more than that of the Grand Canyon. I highly recommend visiting this place, and make sure you bring a good camera. Also if you come during the winter time pack some warm clothes as it can get very cold. And if you have enough time in your trip try to take a visit to the Lower Antelope Canyon. It was also remarkably beautiful and unique.
