Breathe the atmosphere of centuries past by shopping at Getreidegasse. Altstadt's most famous shopping street features dozens of shops. Browse through jewelry, the latest fashions, antiques, leather, paper goods, perfumes, and a delicatessen. Along the street, you'll also find high, narrow houses tightly nestled together. Pay attention to the skillfully crafted guild signs above restaurants, shops, and workshops. You can walk by the birth house of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart at Getreidegasse 9, where the great composer lived until he was 17.
