The Museum der Moderne Mönchsberg is picturesquely situated high above the rooftops of the old town of Salzburg and offers new, contemporary architecture for large-scale exhibitions and presentations of the museum's own holdings an international context. The museum offers an ideal setting for presentations of the museum’s own comprehensive collection and large-scale temporary exhibitions of international contemporary art.

The Museum der Moderne Rupertinum, a baroque town palace built by the archbishops, located in the immediate vicinity of Festival Hall and Cathedral precinct, has been adapted for the presentation of modern art. The two buildings of the Museum der Moderne Salzburg offer 3.000 m2 of exhibition space for thematic and monographic exhibitions of 20th and 21st centry art, as well as presentations of graphics and photography.

  • Do not hike up the hill unless you want to! There is an entrance below with an elevator. Very nice exhibit. Not a clear flow where to go though but I liked what was there. Lovely space as well
  • One of the lady working at the souvenir shop is ruining the good image we have on salzburg. She has change but keep insist us to dig for small notes or coins while what I have smallest is 20 dollars. And eventually she handed out the 19 dollars changes she can easily found and throw the receipt on the table rudely with a dark face
