At 241 m (791 ft), Mount Brandaris stands as the highest peak on the island, a 100 million-year-old product of volcanic activity. Climb up to the top amidst a landscape of deserts, cacti, and dry forests as you watch for iguanas, lizards or bright pink flamingos. Because of the region's hot, arid climate, carry water and food with you and wear sturdy hiking boots to handle the rocky terrain. We have climbed the highest mountain of Bonaire twice. Nice adventure. Better you choose a day with enough wind as it can be very hot. Good footwear is recommended as some passages are very stony and steep. Take enough drinks with you. The ascent takes about 70 minutes.
