    The Shri Chitrapur Math is actually located in Shirali, North Canara, Karnataka. Being the central Math for Chitrapur Saraswath community, it is unique. Worth visiting the same, when in Shirali.

    The Gaud Sarswat math at Chitrapur is very old at about 400 years . This Brahmin community first was at Kashmir , then shifted to Goa then to Maharastra and lately at Karnataka. Well maintained and peaceful math. All traditional Puja are performed daily . They are descendants of seven Rishis. Entrance mainly for those families of descendants.

    Quiet, serene and beautiful. Old world charm without any traces of commercialisation inspires and relaxes you, no matter how much tension you had to start with. Definitely worth a leisurely visit.
