Witness the 3,000 m (10,000 ft) high monadnock of Mount Mulanje, covered with undulating grasslands and wooded gorges. Drive around the foot of the massif, or hike and camp in the mountains. Arrange a guide and participate in challenging climbs, which require a certain amount of previous experience. See the endangered Mulanje cypress, and look for birds such as buzzards, black eagles, and white-necked ravens. Fishing is possible in a river on the southern slopes of the mountain.
