The capital and political center of Switzerland, Bern sits on a peninsula formed by the U-shaped River Aare.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Bern: Lake Brienz (in Brienz), Lauterbrunnen (Staubbach Waterfall & Trümmelbachfälle) and St. Beatus Hoehlen (in Sundlauenen).
