A global center of finance and transportation, Frankfurt is perhaps best known for its futuristic cityscape.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Stadel Museum and Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt. Museum fur Kommunikation and Hessisches Landesmuseum Darmstadt will appeal to museum buffs. When in Frankfurt, make a side trip to see Institut Mathildenhoehe in Darmstadt, approximately Darmstadt away. There's lots more to do: browse the different shops at Bauernmarkt Konstablerwache, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Dreikonigskirche, go for a walk through Mainkai, and steep yourself in history at Old Nicholas Church (Alte Nikolaikirche).
