The capital city of Malawi and its largest, Lilongwe serves as an important center of economy and transportation for the area.

Take a break from Lilongwe with a short trip to Chongoni Rock Art Area in Dedza, about 1h 15 min away. Brussels, Belgium to Lilongwe is an approximately 22-hour flight. The time zone difference moving from Central European Standard Time to Central Africa Time is 1 hour. Finish your sightseeing early on the 9th (Fri) to allow enough time to fly to Mulanje.

Mulanje is a town in the Southern Region, Malawi close to the border of Mozambique. On the 11th (Sun), dedicate a day to the elevated beauty of Mount Mulanje.

Traveling by flight from Lilongwe to Mulanje takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of bus and car. In June, plan for daily highs up to 28°C, and evening lows to 17°C. On the 12th (Mon), you're off to Blantyre.

As Malawi's second-largest city, Blantyre represents the country's main commercial and industrial hub and boasts a dynamic array of food options.

Take a break from Blantyre with a short trip to Majete Wildlife Reserve in Chikwawa, about 1h 5 min away. And it doesn't end there: hike along The Way of the Cross/ Njira ya Mtanda, get engrossed in the history at Chichiri Museum, get your bearings at The Society of Malawi Library, and don't miss a visit to Malawi Stock Exchange.

You can drive from Mulanje to Blantyre in 1.5 hours. In June, daytime highs in Blantyre are 28°C, while nighttime lows are 17°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 15th (Thu) early enough to drive to Zomba.

Zomba is a city in southern Malawi, in the Shire Highlands. Change things up with these side-trips from Zomba: Chifundo Artisan's Network Art Studio Shop (in Balaka) and Lake Chilwa (in Kachulu). It doesn't end there: take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Zomba Plateau and pause for some photo ops at King African Rifles Monument.

You can drive from Blantyre to Zomba in 1.5 hours. In June in Zomba, expect temperatures between 28°C during the day and 17°C at night. On the 18th (Sun), you're off to Liwonde National Park.

Getting from Zomba to Liwonde National Park by car takes about 2.5 hours. Traveling from Zomba in June, you will find days in Liwonde National Park are slightly colder (23°C), and nights are about the same (20°C). Finish your sightseeing early on the 19th (Mon) so you can drive to Salima.

Traveling by car from Liwonde National Park to Salima takes 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of car and flight. When traveling from Liwonde National Park in June, plan for a bit warmer days in Salima, with highs around 27°C, while nights are about the same with lows around 21°C. You will leave for Likoma Island on the 22nd (Thu).

Located on the Mozambican side of Lake Malawi, Likoma Island holds plenty of allure with giant baobabs and sweeping views of the wild coast.

Kick off your visit on the 23rd (Fri): pause for some serene contemplation at St. Peter's Cathedral.
