23 days in Udupi, Gokarna & Murdeshwar Itinerary

Though its cuisine has spread throughout the country and beyond, Udupi retains a small-town charm.

You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Sri Krishna Temple and St. Mary's Island. Explore Udupi's surroundings by going to Mangalore (Sasihithlu Beach, Kadri Manjunath Temple, &more). And it doesn't end there: enjoy the sand and surf at Malpe Beach, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Mount Rosary church, get engrossed in the history at Hasta Shilpa Heritage Village, and stroll through Kodi Beach.

Bengaluru to Udupi is an approximately 8.5-hour car ride. In March, daily temperatures in Udupi can reach 39°C, while at night they dip to 27°C. On the 27th (Sun), you'll travel to Gokarna.

The small temple town of Gokarna has changed drastically in recent years.

Kids will enjoy Om Beach and Half Moon Beach. Venture out of the city with trips to Durga Temple (in Karwar) and Shantika Parameshwari Temple (in Kumta). There's still lots to do: kick back and relax at Kudle Beach, soothe aching muscles at Shree Hari Yoga India, don't miss a visit to Mirjan Fort, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Mahabaleswara Temple.

Traveling by car from Udupi to Gokarna takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and taxi; or take a train. You'll set off for Murdeshwar on the 2nd (Sat).

Kids will appreciate attractions like Murdeshwar Temple and Jog Falls. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Murdeshwar: Kasarkod Beach (in Kasarkoda) and Honnavar (Eco Beach & Kodlamane Shree Vishnumurthy Temple).

Getting from Gokarna to Murdeshwar by car takes about 2 hours. On the 9th (Sat), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive back home.
