London — 4 nights

The Square Mile

Vibrant and noisy, London is one of the world’s leading cities, an international capital of culture, education, fashion, music, finance, trade, and politics.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Greenwich and Highclere Castle. Step out of the city life by going to The White Cliffs of Dover and Camber Sands. Change things up with these side-trips from London: Arundel Castle and Gardens (in Arundel), Ely Cathedral (in Ely) and Winchester Cathedral (in Winchester). There's still lots to do: take in the history at Battle Abbey and Battlefield, stop by Old Town Hastings, contemplate the long history of Anglesey Abbey, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Mary The Virgin Church.

For where to stay, other places to visit, traveler tips, and tourist information, read London road trip site.

If you are flying in from Germany, the closest major aiports are London Heathrow Airport, London Gatwick Airport, London Stansted Airport, London City Airport, London Luton Airport, London St. Pancras International, Ebbsfleet International Rail Station, South Cape (Zuid-Kaap) Airport (nonexistent / spam) and Ashford International Rail Station. In September, daytime highs in London are 22°C, while nighttime lows are 12°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 24th (Mon) to allow time to travel back home.
