Bakewell — 7 nights

Bakewell is a small market town and civil parish in the Derbyshire Dales district of Derbyshire, England, well known for the local confection Bakewell pudding. You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Kinder Scout and Tissington Trail. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Bakewell: Chestnut Centre Otter, Owl and Wildlife Park (in Chapel-en-le-Frith), Derwent Bike Hire, Repair and Service Centre (in Bamford) and Ilam (Ilam Park & Church of the Holy Cross). There's lots more to do: view the masterpieces at Chatsworth House, explore the activities along Ladybower Reservoir, tour the pleasant surroundings at Bike Garage, and take in the dramatic natural features at Winnat's Pass.

London to Bakewell is an approximately 3.5-hour car ride. You can also drive; or do a combination of train and bus; or take a bus. When traveling from London in August, plan for slightly colder days and about the same nights in Bakewell: temperatures range from 22°C by day to 13°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 20th (Sat) to allow time to drive back home.
