One of London’s most recognizable landmarks, Trafalgar Square is a 44 m (145 ft) high monument bearing the statue of Lord Horatio Nelson, whose distinguished service during the Napoleonic Wars secured him a reputation as one of Britain’s most heroic historical figures. The square, built around the area formerly known as Charing Cross, marks the center of the city. A number of commemorative statues and sculptures are located on the square, with one plinth (statue platform) left empty in order to host regular art exhibits. The square is used for political events and community gatherings, and most notably is the center of the city’s New Year’s Eve celebrations. Try to make a photo stop here while you're in town. Be warned, came as supporters of Republic who had agreed a format with the Met for coronation day, only to find that they were blocking access without explanation.

Seen this place on a lot of TV programs over the years and although I have only been to London a few times I never had the chance to go here. I finally had the chance as I was in the area and enjoyed it I love water fountains so really enjoyed the fountains here. I enjoyed seeing the sculptures and monuments here they are really impressive and worth seeing. There is the smallest police station here now used as a council store I wish they had some information here about it. I love the traffic lights with gender symbols on when the green crossing light comes on. This is a great place to visit I hope to come back and spend a bit longer here.

A very intriguing and picturesque place to visit. Sometimes certain groups give performances and entertain people. It's very fun to watch. Had a great time with my friends. Many good food outlets nearby to choose from.
