Situated on the grounds of an Elizabethan mansion, Longleat features a collection of over 500 animals, sheltered on 3,642 hectares (9,000 acres) of Wiltshire countryside. Opened in 1966, this site was the first drive-through safari park outside of Africa. Unlike most other wildlife sanctuaries, at this location the animals roam freely, while the visitors stay within the comfort and safety of their cars. Drive through the park’s various reserves to observe wallabies, giraffes, camels, vultures, wildebeests, rhinos, elephants, pelicans, gorillas, tigers, lions, and Canadian wolves. The estate offers various special events and attractions, such as short cruises around the park’s lake, which houses a large family of sea lions. Check online for discounts and special offers. Great place to visit. Safari is good best bit is the naughty monkeys. Although watch the stickers and loose bits on your car van they like them bits. You have to be lucky to see wolves tigers lions being active. Food is okay just queues everywhere. Probably better to take your own especially with small children. Maze is good. And be prepared to wait for at least 45 min for river trip at busy periods. Well worth the wait. Train ride also long queues. Farmyard animals to see. Lots to see and do. Well worth the money.
Great reasonably priced day out, fun for the whole family. Lovely safari, beware of the monkey enclosure. Wide variety of animals and activities to do. Food and gift shops leave a little to be desired as at most day trips. The grounds are beautiful as to be expected and a nice maze to round the day off well. Would definitely recommend.
